The city of Rome in Italy has been chosen as the venue for 2nd International Industrial Diamond Conference, which will be held at the Sheraton Hotel & Conference Centre between 19 - 20 April, 2007.
The Diamond At Work Executive Committee decided on this date and venue following an analysis of the feedback survey from the previous conference held in Barcelona, Spain, in October last year. Over 60% of those in attendance responded to the survey, which gives significant statistical weight to the results.
| These results, therefore, provided an excellent set of guidelines for organising future conferences. Perhaps the most important question of all though was whether there should in fact be any future conferences and the answer was a resounding yes, with almost 90% of respondants answering in the positive.
Over 75% felt it should be held as a biennial conference from now on and 50% preferred the next venue to be in Europe, with 33% in favour of it eventually rotating between continents.
Regarding the duration of the conference, 90% said it was just right at 2 days, and 80% felt that the number of papers presented was correct. The technical content of the papers was rated highly as also was the coverage of topics, which both scored over 80%. |
The survey contained 20 questions in total, covering all the major elements which made up the conference. All the responses were extremely positive, but there is obviously still room for improvement in some areas and the Diamond At Work organising committee will take on board all comments to ensure that the next conference will clearly reflect the feelings of those who attended the Barcelona conference.
